2025 UTME: JAMB Creates Fake Website to Catch Cheats

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has come up with a new and smart way to fight cheating during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). This time, JAMB created a fake website (also called a decoy website) to trap those trying to get exam answers in illegal ways.

I found this news very interesting, especially as a student and blogger. It is a clear message to students that JAMB is not joking this year.

 What Happened?

2025 UTME: JAMB Creates Fake Website to Catch Cheats

The JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, made this announcement on Thursday while monitoring the UTME Mock exam in Abuja. Over 211,000 students sat for the Mock examination across different CBT centres in Nigeria.

Professor Oloyede said that the aim of the Mock exam was not just for practice but also to test new methods that JAMB wants to use in the main UTME.

One of those methods is the fake website JAMB has created to catch students who are looking for leaked questions and answers.

He also said the mock results would be ready by Friday, a day after the exam.

Why Did JAMB Do This?

From what the JAMB boss explained, it is because some candidates have started visiting websites that promise to help them cheat during UTME. These websites ask students to pay money for supposed “expo” or “leaked questions.”

Instead of just warning students again and again, JAMB decided to fight back by creating its own fake website. The idea is simple: those who go to the fake site and pay for help will be caught red-handed.

And guess what? As of Thursday morning, about 180 students had already paid money to the fake website thinking they were getting real answers. But they did not know it was a trap.

What Will Happen to Those Students?

Professor Oloyede did not hide anything. He said those who paid into the account will be punished. Their results will be cancelled.

This includes both the UTME and Direct Entry (DE) results. JAMB has their names, details, and payment records.

He also explained that registering for UTME is something students should do by themselves.

He warned against giving registration numbers to other people or allowing schools to register on their behalf.

Strong Advice from JAMB

The JAMB Registrar had strong words for students. He said the only way to pass UTME is to study hard. No short cut.

He explained how some students are spending up to thirty thousand naira trying to buy questions from criminals online.

And sadly, some of them are wasting that money on nothing. The websites they are paying to will not help them. They are just stealing from them.

JAMB wants all students to know that if anyone asks you to pay money for exam questions, just walk away. It is not real, and you may get into serious trouble.

What is the Purpose of the Mock Exam?

The mock exam is not the real exam. It is like a test run to help JAMB know if everything is working well. It also helps students know how the real exam will look and feel.

During the mock, JAMB tried out the new decoy website method. Now they will study how it worked and use the lessons to prepare better for the main UTME which starts on April 25, 2025.

A Word of Caution to Parents and Schools

Parents also need to be very careful. Do not allow your child to register through agents or pay anyone who promises “special help.” Schools that force students to give out their registration details should stop it.

JAMB is now watching everything very closely. From the words of the registrar, no one will be spared if caught trying to cheat.

My Advice to Nigerian Students

As someone who has gone through the UTME process, my advice is simple:

  • Prepare very well for your exam.
  • Read your books and practice past questions.
  • Do not let anyone deceive you with expo.
  • Never give out your JAMB details to anyone.
  • If you need help, go to an official JAMB CBT centre.

Remember, anything that sounds too good to be true is most likely a lie. Focus on your dream. Work hard for it. You can succeed without cheating.

Important Dates and Reminders

Mock Results: Will be out by Friday (March 28, 2025).
UTME Exam Starts: April 25, 2025.
Exam Centres: All approved CBT centres nationwide.

Final Words

Let me say this again: the only secret to passing UTME is reading your books and praying to God. I know it is not easy, but do not be tempted by rogue websites or fraudsters. JAMB is ready this year, and they are smarter than before.

This is not the time to look for expo. This is the time to get serious.
