Opportunity for African Postgraduate Students.
To encourage academic brilliance and help students from Africa in pursuing their postgraduate studies, the University of Sheffield, with the aid of the University of Sheffield Africa Scholarship Trust, is happy to announce that it has a prestigious scholarship opportunity for this year.
This scholarship is designed to financially support outstanding African scholars who want to pursue taught postgraduate programs at The University of Sheffield.
Scholarship Award Details
The 2024 University of Sheffield Africa Scholarship provides an all-inclusive package which covers:
- Full tuition fee waiver
- Maintenance grant worth £8,000
- Accommodation in a single occupant en-suite room in University halls of residence
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants for the 2024 University of Sheffield Africa Scholarship must meet the following eligibility conditions:
1. Have an offer to study on one of the courses listed at The University of Sheffield.
2. Be classified as overseas for tuition fee purposes.
3. Be self-funded i.e., not funded by research councils, governments, private enterprises or charities etc.
4. Do not have qualifications equal to or higher than a master.
5. Have never studied outside of their home country.
6. Must be an African citizen or a permanent resident of any African country.
7. Fulfill all conditions attached to the offer by the given deadline.
8. By 2 September 2024, have received an unconditional offer to study at the University.
9. Obtain a visa that allows them to study at the University in September 2024.
10. They should attend full-time mode of study
11. The scholarship cannot be deferred and students on leave of absence will not be eligible for the award upon return
Selection Process:
The selection process is competitive, with a panel of senior staff members assessing applications against several criteria which may include academic record, rationale for applying, overcoming challenges, work experience, future ambitions and potential barriers experienced due to personal characteristics.

Applications are now open for University of Sheffield Africa Scholarship 2024 until Tuesday 28 May 2024 at 1pm (UK time). Applicants can apply using their applicant login details once they have received an offer . Applicants will be notified of decision before end June 2024.
